The Forestry Agency held symposium, The challenge to ”ｗoody city ” on 15th November, Tokyo

The symposium on the theme of “a challenge to a woody city” was held in Tokyo on 15th November. Professor of Vienna University of Technology, Dr. Wolfgang Winter and Professor of University of Tokyo, Dr. Hisao Koyama gave keynote lectures.

Dr.Winter explained the history of European forest resources decline and recovery. Many storied wood building is increasing, and the standard act of the wooden structure in the city of Europe changed in the last ten years. Synthetic education of a design and an engineer is performed at the institution of higher educations in Europe.

Finally in the symposium, panelists discussed what is necessary to realize woody city in Japan.Realization of “woody city in Japan”, it need to the fusion of art and engineering education, our mind “Japan is wooden culture” has to change to more flexible ideas.
